Telegram Wishlist Bot: Keep a Wishlist in Telegram, Share It in Any Chat and Collect Gift Ideas with a Group

@wishdoiobot turns any product link you send it into a gift idea, usually with its photo and price, and keeps your ideas in a wishlist that friends can open and reserve from. You can start without an account. Here is how it works in your chat with the bot, in any chat with friends, and in a group.

Who wrote this. The wishdo.io team, who made the bot, so this guide is about ours. It's free. Every button and command named here was checked against the bot on 7 November 2026.

What @wishdoiobot does

One bot, three places to use it:

  • In your chat with the bot: send a link, a photo with a caption or a few words, and it becomes an idea in your wishlist.
  • In any chat: send your list to friends as a card; with an account, reply "@wishdoiobot" to a friend's link to keep it for yourself.
  • In a group: connect one shared collection, and anyone in the group adds a link to it with /add.

You don't need an account to start. Your friends don't need Telegram or an account to see your list and reserve a gift.

Open @wishdoiobot

Tap Start and send any product link.

Open the bot in Telegram

How to make a wishlist in Telegram

1. Open the bot.

Search for @wishdoiobot in Telegram or open t.me/wishdoiobot, then tap Start.

2. Send a product link.

Copy it from any shop, or tap Share in the shop's app and pick the bot. A few seconds later the bot answers with a card: the photo, the title, the price, the shop, the list the idea went to and who can see it.

3. Add more the same way.

A photo with a caption becomes an idea with your photo. A few words, such as "Lego Technic Porsche 911", get the question "Save «Lego Technic Porsche 911» as an idea?". If a shop won't let the bot read its page, the bot asks you for the name, or you tap Save just the link.

4. Share the list.

Tap Share under any idea and pick a chat. Your friend gets a card of your list with an Open the list button.

Send a link, get an idea with its photo and price.

Send a link, get an idea with its photo and price.

Your first link creates a list called "Want". Only people who have its link can see it, and it's never shown in search on wishdo.io.

How friends see your list and reserve a gift

  • The list opens in any browser. Friends need neither Telegram nor an account.
  • They tap Reserve on the gift they'll buy. Everyone else sees it as reserved, so nobody buys the same thing twice.
  • The bot tells you when something on a list without an account is reserved: "Your wish "…" has been reserved". With an account, this news comes from wishdo.io, as for any of your lists.
  • A reservation made without an account holds for two weeks. That stops a forgotten reservation from blocking a gift for ever.

Would you rather not know which gift is taken? Surprise mode hides that from you. It's a list setting on wishdo.io, so it needs an account (see below).

How to share your wishlist in any chat

There are two ways:

  • Tap Share under a list in /lists (or under an idea, on a list without an account) and pick the chat.
  • In any chat, type @wishdoiobot in the message field. Your lists appear above the keyboard; tap one to send it.

Friends get a card with the list's name, the number of ideas and an Open the list button. Only lists that others can open are offered, the ones set to Everyone or By link. Lists for friends, chosen people or only you stay out.

Do you need a wishdo.io account?

Not to start. An account adds more lists, more control and the group features:

Without an account With an account
Lists One list, "Want" As many as you like; you choose where the bot saves
Ideas Up to 100 Up to 5,000
Who sees People with the link Everyone, By link, Friends, Chosen people or Only me, for each list and each idea
How long it's kept Deleted after 6 months with no activity; the bot warns you 14 days before Until you delete it
News of reservations In the bot On wishdo.io, by email and in the app
Saving from any chat, groups, topics — Yes
Website, app, browser extension — Yes

How to switch: tap Keep the list in an account under an idea or in /lists. Telegram signs you in to wishdo.io in one step; a new account then asks you to add and confirm your email. The whole list moves across, with its link and your friends' reservations. If you're already signed in to wishdo.io in that browser, the site asks whether to connect Telegram to that account.

With an account, the buttons under each idea do more: List moves the idea to another list, Who sees changes who can see it, and Delete removes it (with a way to bring it back).

With an account: move an idea to another list or change who sees it.

How to save an idea from any chat

A friend sends a link you like in a chat? Reply to that message with @wishdoiobot and tap Send. Telegram first shows your lists above the message field (that's for sharing a list): skip them and send. The idea goes to your hidden "Spotted" list, and the card arrives in your chat with the bot. The others in that chat only see "Saved to wishdo.io".

This needs an up-to-date Telegram app: guest mentions arrived in May 2026. It works in chats with other people and in groups, not in Saved Messages.

This needs an account. In Settings → Telegram on wishdo.io, "Ideas from other chats" can point to any of your lists instead of "Spotted".

Reply

Reply "@wishdoiobot" to a link, and it's saved for you alone.

One topic for each list

With an account, send /topics in your chat with the bot. Each list gets its own topic (up to 20): a link sent in a topic goes into that list, and renaming a list renames its topic.

Without topics, links go to the list chosen in Settings → Telegram → Ideas from the private chat. The List button under an idea moves just that idea; it doesn't change where the next link goes.

Collecting gift ideas together in a group chat

1. Add @wishdoiobot to the group.

Add it as an ordinary member: it needs no admin rights.

2. A group admin connects it.

Someone who is an admin of the group and has a wishdo.io account sends /auth, taps Connect in private chat and confirms in the chat with the bot with Connect the group.

3. Choose the collection.

Pick the collection that ideas from the group go to: one of yours, or New collection «name of the group». A new one is set to By link, so everyone in the group can open it.

4. Anyone adds ideas with /add.

Send /add and the link in one message: /add https://…. The message gets a 👌, and only the person who added it sees the card. Members don't need an account.

5. /list shows what's there.

The bot shows the collection only to whoever asked: up to 10 open ideas with prices, and how many are reserved, hidden under a spoiler.

If the group has other bots, write /add@wishdoiobot and the link, so the command reaches the right bot. Just mentioning @wishdoiobot in a group does nothing: the bot only sees commands.

A group has one collection, and the ideas are saved into the account of the person who connected it. That person can switch the collection with /settings; any group admin can disconnect the group with /disconnect.

In a group: /add saves a link, /list shows the collection.

Three ways groups use it

  • A colleague's birthday. Someone starts a group called "Gift for Masha" and connects a collection. For two weeks, everyone adds ideas with /add. Then one person opens the collection, picks a gift and reserves it. The team chips in the way it always does: the bot doesn't collect money.
  • Family before the holidays. Connect the family group to a collection called "Christmas 2026", and everyone adds ideas with /add. Before buying, /list shows how many are already reserved. Each person can also keep their own wishlist in their chat with the bot and share it with Share.
  • Friends planning a wedding gift. Collect ideas in the group and agree on one. The couple's own list for guests is a separate wishlist: see how to make a wedding wishlist.

Secret Santa? The bot doesn't draw names. Run the draw on wishdo.io/secret-santa: each player gets a ward and sees that person's wishlist there.

What the bot can see and what it keeps

  • In groups, Telegram gives a bot that isn't an admin only commands and replies to its own messages. We don't ask for admin rights, and Telegram shows it in the member list: "has no access to messages".
  • In other chats, it sees only the message you reply to with @wishdoiobot.
  • What we keep: your Telegram ID, username, first name and language; the lists and groups you chose; the ideas; and a short log of what the bot saved.
  • To stop: /logout disconnects Telegram from your account. A group admin sends /disconnect in the group. A list without an account can be deleted from /lists with Delete the list.

Bot, mini app, channel or Saved Messages?

People keep wishlists in Telegram in four ways. Here's what each one does:

A bot like @wishdoiobot Yes Yes, in any browser Yes, with /add
A mini app Depends on the app Usually, inside Telegram Rarely
Your own channel Link preview only No No
Saved Messages Link preview only No, only you see it No
