Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and wishdo.io about using the website wishdo.io, the wishdo.io apps for iOS and Android, our emails and notifications, the Telegram bot and the browser extension (together, the “Service”). The same terms apply on the site and in the apps. How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

The Service is run by Andrei Romaha, a private individual based in the Republic of Moldova (“wishdo.io”, “we”, “us”). Contact: [email protected].

2. Accepting these terms

You accept these terms when you create an account on the site or in the app — with a password or through Apple, Google, Facebook, Pinterest or Telegram — or when you use the Service without an account: book a gift, make a gift certificate, join a Secret Santa or send a report. A line saying so is shown next to the sign-in buttons and in the forms for guests. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

3. Who can use wishdo.io

  • You must be at least 16 years old. The app asks for your date of birth when you create an account, and the Service does not accept a date of birth under 16, in the app or on the site. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we will delete it.
  • Give true information about yourself and keep your sign-in details to yourself. If you think someone else has used your account, change your password and write to us.
  • One person may have several accounts only if they do not use them to get around a block, manipulate ratings or mislead others.

4. The Service is free

Using wishdo.io is free for people and for brands. If we introduce paid features, we will publish their price and conditions before anyone can pay for them, and nothing that is free today will start costing money without your explicit choice.

Some links to shops are affiliate links and count as advertising: they go through our redirect page and are marked “Ad” on the product card and “Affiliate link (ad)” on the wish. When you buy something after such a link, the shop may pay us a commission. Using such a link does not cost you extra.

5. Wishes, lists and visibility

  • You decide who sees each list and wish — All, By link or Only me — and whether your profile is open or closed to everyone except the followers you accept. Anyone who has a link can open what it leads to and pass it on; if a link has spread further than you wanted, reissue it — the old one stops working.
  • Prices, photos and descriptions of products come from you or from shops. We do not guarantee that they are correct, available or current.
  • wishdo.io does not sell anything. Buying, paying, delivery, warranty and returns are between you and the shop.

6. Bookings

  • A booking tells others that someone plans to give this gift. It is not a purchase and does not oblige anyone to buy it.
  • A guest (without an account) can hold up to 3 gifts from one person at a time; a guest booking is released automatically after 14 days. With an account you can hold more, within limits that protect lists from being blocked; such a booking is released after the period the list owner has set.
  • The owner of a list may allow several bookings of one wish, turn off booking without an account and turn on surprise mode, in which the owner does not see what was booked.
  • We may remove bookings that are clearly used to block someone’s list.

7. Gift certificates

Certificates you make

A certificate made on wishdo.io — “a dinner”, “a trip”, “100 euros for books” — is a promise between people. It is not money, a means of payment or a voucher of any shop, and we do not guarantee that it will be kept. A certificate made without an account is available by its link for 30 days.

Certificates of brands

A brand can offer its own gift certificates on its page. The purchase and payment happen between you and the brand, outside wishdo.io; the brand issues the code, sends it to the email you give and is responsible for its value, validity, where it can be used, redemption and refunds. wishdo.io is not a party to this deal and does not receive the payment. If a brand stops offering certificates or leaves wishdo.io, certificates already issued remain the brand’s obligation.

8. Secret Santa

  • The organiser creates a room, sets the budget and the date and invites people, including by email. By entering someone’s email, the organiser confirms that the person expects the invitation.
  • Nobody, including the organiser and us, sees who draws whom. The budget is an agreement between participants; gifts are bought and handed over outside wishdo.io.
  • Messages between a Santa and a recipient are anonymous. Do not use them to find out who is who against the other person’s will or to send anything you would not send openly.

9. Business accounts

  • A brand registers a business account and a brand profile. The page works by its link right away; it appears in the brand catalogue and search after a manual check. We may refuse or remove a brand profile without explanation if it looks unreliable.
  • The brand is responsible for what it publishes: descriptions, prices, availability of products, certificates and its replies to reviews — and for complying with consumer protection and advertising laws.
  • People can leave reviews with ratings on a brand page. A brand may reply but may not buy, fake or pressure reviews; we may remove reviews and replies that break these terms.
  • Some products appear on wishdo.io from affiliate feeds of shops, without the brand’s involvement.
  • A brand sees statistics of its page and, for issued certificates, the buyers’ emails — only to issue and redeem codes. The brand is a separate controller of these emails and must protect them.

10. Your content

What you publish — wishes, photos, lists, collections, comments, reviews, profile — stays yours. You confirm that you have the right to publish it and that it does not break anyone’s rights.

So that the Service can work, you give wishdo.io a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, show, copy, resize and translate this content within the Service, for as long as it is published. In practice this means:

  • showing public content on the site, in the site search, on the home page and in search engines, according to the visibility you chose;
  • making preview pictures when a link is shared in messengers and social networks;
  • machine translation when someone presses “Translate”;
  • recommending your public wishes and collections to other people;
  • letting other people save a public wish or collection to their own lists;
  • showing links you send to the Telegram bot in the group where you sent them.

The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies others saved of your public wishes and for comments and bookings that stay under “Deleted account” (see the Privacy Policy).

11. What is not allowed

wishdo.io has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for users who abuse others. Such content is removed, and its author may lose their account (section 12). The following is not allowed anywhere in the Service — in the apps, on the site, in the Telegram bot or through the extension:

  • pornography and other sexually explicit content, and anything that sexualises minors (other adult content may stay on the site only behind the 18+ lock, see section 12);
  • spam, deception, fraud, fake bookings, reviews or accounts;
  • harassment, threats, bullying, doxxing and any other abuse of other users;
  • calls for violence, glorification of harm, hate speech and discrimination;
  • infringing copyright, trademarks or other people’s privacy, including publishing someone’s personal data without consent;
  • selling goods or services to people through personal accounts, and any use of the Service to break the law;
  • collecting data from the Service with bots, scrapers or in bulk, bypassing limits, interfering with the Service or trying to access other people’s accounts.

12. Moderation

  • Photos of wishes, profile photos and covers, brand logos and covers are checked automatically, and so are the texts other people can see — titles and descriptions of wishes, lists and collections that are open or shared by link, comments and reviews, nicknames and profile descriptions, brand names and descriptions. Gift certificates, Secret Santa games and messages between a Santa and their recipient are not checked automatically. Clear-cut violations — sexual content involving minors, direct threats, calls to violent crime, instructions for self-harm — are hidden at once, and the account is blocked.
  • If the automatic check finds nudity or sexual content in a photo, only that wish is marked 18+, not the whole account, until a moderator reviews it. On the site it stays behind an 18+ lock: its author sees it, signed-in adults see it once their age is confirmed, guests never do. Such a wish does not appear in search, the feed, recommendations or on the home page, and the apps do not show it at all, even to its author. If a profile photo or cover may contain nudity or sexual content, it is replaced for other people until a moderator reviews it, and the person’s wishes stay as they are.
  • A moderator reviews everything the automatic check has marked. Content that breaks these terms is removed from public view and counts as a violation; adult content that breaks no rule may stay behind the lock. Three confirmed violations within 90 days block the account. The author learns by email and in notifications what was hidden, why and how to appeal.
  • On the site anyone can report a wish, list, collection, comment, review, gift certificate, brand page or person. In the app, signed-in users can report the same, except gift certificates, and also a Secret Santa game and the person they are talking to in a Secret Santa chat. A report names a reason or “Other”. We review reports within 24 hours: content that breaks these terms is removed, and the user who posted it, or who abuses other people, may be blocked and removed from the Service.
  • You can block any user from their profile, in the app or on the site. After that, while you are signed in, neither of you sees the other’s profile, lists, wishes or comments; follows between you and co-authorship of collections are removed, and the blocked user cannot follow you again. They are not notified. The people you have blocked are listed in the settings, where you can unblock them.
  • We may hide or remove content, remove bookings and reviews, limit features or block an account that breaks these terms or the law. If you ask, we will tell you the reason.
  • If you think a decision was wrong, write to [email protected] with a link and an explanation. A person will review it and answer.

13. Apps, extension, bot, import and export

  • The apps for iOS and Android are distributed through the App Store and Google Play. Using the Service in the app is governed by these terms, and downloading the app by the store’s own terms. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for the Service or its content.
  • The browser extension and the Telegram bot only add to wishdo.io what you send them. Use them only on pages and in chats where you are allowed to.
  • The Telegram bot works in a group only after a group administrator connects it; the administrator is responsible for telling the group members.
  • You can import wishes from files and export your data. Import only files you have the right to use.

14. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the settings, where it is deleted right away, or request deletion at wishdo.io/data-deletion. Deletion cannot be undone; what is deleted and what stays under “Deleted account” is described in the Privacy Policy. We may delete accounts not used for three years, after warning by email.

If we block an account for breaking these terms, its owner may not create a new one to get around the block.

15. Availability and liability

  • We work to keep the Service running, but it is provided “as is”: it may stop, change or lose data because of errors, failures or attacks. wishdo.io is not a storage service — keep copies of what matters to you (you can export your data).
  • We may change, add or remove features, and close the Service. Before closing it we will announce this at least 30 days in advance so that you can export your data.
  • We are not responsible for shops, brands and other websites that wishdo.io links to, for what people promise each other in bookings, certificates and Secret Santa, or for content published by other people.
  • As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage or lost profit. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law or the rights that consumer protection law in your country gives you.

16. Changes to these terms

We update these terms when the Service changes; the date at the top shows the latest version. We will tell you on the site or by email about changes that affect your rights before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can delete your account; continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new version.

17. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Moldova. Please write to [email protected] first — most questions are solved that way. If not, disputes are resolved by the courts of the Republic of Moldova, unless consumer protection law of your country of residence gives you the right to go to court there.
